With the loss of his mate in the past months, Azazel was acting not how the staff had anticipated. They had thought the stallion would reek havoc; go into a rampage, but no such event happened. Instead the stallion was silent, almost shying away from any and all challenges that he usually finished within a beat of a heart.

Familiar with such behaviour - Bailey herself was withdrawn with her attention focused on Azazel rather than her other work, the last time a powerful horse had acted the way Azazel was currently acting was her first DN; another stallion similar to Azazel. He too had lost his mate to an attack - he lasted only two months before using his orbs to end himself. Odd behaviour for the DN breed; odder behaviour for his personality.
Bailey just hoped that Azazel wouldn't come to end himself in such a way...

But such seemed not to be the stallion's intentions.
While the stallion went on his nightly hunt; his followers, his herd and family were themselves growing cautious of the stallion. He was happy. That in itself was unnerving never mind the recent events. It took them a while to gather their courage, but in the end, as always, Alexander was the one to follow his brother's steps.
The night was particularly cloudy, dark and foggy (no thanks to Azazel's feathering), but Alexander still found it remarkably easy to follow the centuries-old familiar scent of his older brother. He stayed a distance, a mile apart at the most; before coming to a stop near the familiar sound of Azazel's nickering. Lowering his head and heavy frame, Alexander stepped carefully over the branches underfoot as he watched his brother for a moment before stepping to his view.

His heart tensed for a moment, but he remained calm as he stepped closer. It was usually at this point that Azazel would look back; his elongated mouth drawn into a familiar smirk but no such thing happened. Instead, Azazel looked back with a cautious glare, his ears pricked before he stepped away, allowing Alexander to see just what had caught the stallion's attention.
And boy, was the younger brother shocked. On instinct, he reared up and let out a soft growling as he stamped his hooves back to the earth, the branches below them snapping easily on impact with the sharp hooves, causing the small creature in front of the war-hardened brothers to whimper and shuffle back.  "Azazel, you know how deadly those things are!" "It is but a child - it can be taught!"
Letting out a sound similar to a sigh, Alexander looked over the young foal. A Bloodline, pale in colour, a soft grey marked with a pale blue that stained its coat like blood once stained his; its black crosses standing against the coat as its eyes met the larger creature.
"Azazel...Bloodlines simply don't leave their foals...its parents will return...and you know the damage those beasts can cause to humans..."
Alexander's voice was quiet as he stepped forward to his brother, their eyes sharing an ancient knowing.
Back in their days of war, it wasn't uncommon to see Bloodline half-breeds as the mounts of the opposing force or even in their own cavalry, the half-breeds were powerful, not quite a match against the orbs of the DN brothers; but most of their scars were the product from the beasts. While they weren't suited for war, their build far too slim - their bloodlines made them durable to an extent; and to find a pure blood so close to the stable sparked a dark fear within Alexander.

Sensing his brother's fear, Azazel lowered his head to the small foal, sniffing at it before gently pressing his nose to its waist. "I'll raise it in the forest...away from the grounds..." "And if Samara crosses it?" A low, dangerous growl escaped Azazel's throat at the mention of the nightmarequine mare. "She won't...I'll ask Alocer to care for the foal, his little undead could keep it company." Another disapproving sigh from Alexander was the only response as he looked down at the frail creature. "Fine. But if it so much as dares to growl at our humans. I will not hesitate to rip in to shreds. That is a promise."
"And you always keep your promises brother..."
A soft growling was Alexander's response as he turned to leave, looking back at the young foal. "Zephyr sounds a good name." With that, no other word was said from the red stallion as he returned to the stable. Azazel, however, simply smirked as he looked down to the young filly. "Zephyr fits you, young one. Now come - Alocer resides not too far from here."
And thus; I'm starting to introduce my newest baby <3
I've yet to decide if she was orphaned or abandoned, but nonetheless; her parents aren't with her...currently ^^;
And Gosh help them if they do show up - Azazel is extremely possessive of the little filly already and he won't give her up easily :lmao:
She's like his little comfort blanket - fills the spot left by Astor's death.
Lama won't take too kindly me thinks
